Job Description / Essential Elements PURPOSE STATEMENT The job of Substitute Administrator (TK–8) is done for the purpose/s of promoting and maintaining high student achievement by providing temporary curricular and instructional leadership; maintaining overall school site operations during the absence of a regular school administrator; receiving, distributing, and communicating information to enforce school, District, and State policies; and communicating information to staff, students, parents, and community members. This job is distinguished from similar jobs by the following characteristics: Incumbents must be able to adapt quickly to varied school environments, provide immediate leadership, present information, and manage a flexible work schedule across elementary and/or middle school sites. SUPERVISION This job reports to the Deputy Superintendent of Educational Services or Designee. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Instructional Leadership: Serves as the site instructional leader during assignments to provide direction for staff and foster high-quality instructional programs for all students. Administrative Operations: Manages daily school administrative functions (e.g., facility oversight, attendance, student discipline, site safety) to maintain safe and efficient school operations. Staff Guidance & Delegation: Delegates administrative responsibilities, provides direction to certificated and classified personnel, and supports site staff to maintain continuous, effective operations. Conflict Resolution & Communication: Facilitates communication between personnel, students, and parents for the purpose of evaluating daily situations, solving operational issues, and resolving conflicts. Policy Compliance: Implements and enforces Board policies, administrative procedures, collective bargaining agreements, and legal mandates.
