Job Summary

Job Summary

The Special Education Teacher for the Adult Transition Program provides instruction, support, and community-based learning opportunities for students with special needs ages 18–22, helping them transition into adult life with a focus on employment, education/training, and independent living. The teacher designs and delivers small group and one-on-one lessons supporting daily living skills, vocational readiness, community access, self-advocacy, and functional academics connected to real-world experiences.

Requirements / Qualifications

Valid California Subject Matter Credential or license authorizing service in grade levels and areas assigned. Valid English Learner Certification. Bachelor’s degree, including all courses to meet credential requirements Hold a valid California Driver's License Fingerprint/criminal justice clearance Tuberculosis clearance. Experience working with students with disabilities, preferably transition-age students. Knowledge of IEP development, transition planning, and community-based instruction. Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills. Ability to build partnerships with families, employers, agencies, and community organizations. Willingness and ability to travel as part of the position. Commitment to supporting students with special needs in achieving greater independence and meaningful adult outcomes.
