CONSTRUCTION SECRETARY
BASIC FUNCTION:
Under direction, perform a variety of responsible secretarial work for the Director of Construction and Facilities; responsible for the operation of the Construction office; and perform related duties as required.
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Plan, layout, and perform a wide variety of clerical and secretarial work;
2. Interpret, communicate and apply District and school rules, procedures, and policies;
3. Take notation; type meeting minutes, orders, bulletins, reports, documents and statistical data;
4. Prepare periodic reports, including searching for materials from various sources and handling details of presentation;
5. Assist staff members or contractors in contacts with District programs, sites, and staff, referring the most complex problems to the Construction Director or project manager designee;
6. Compose: correspondence, letters, memoranda, or reports independently or with minimum instruction;
7. Arrange schedules, meetings, and conferences;
8. Generate and maintain financial and statistical records and reports;
9. Account for budgeted items utilized in the Construction office;
10. Requisition and maintain records of supplies and equipment;
11. Create, revise, and/or supervise the maintenance of filing systems; and
12. Plan, provide work direction, and assist in the review of work of assistants.
KNOWLEDGE OF:
1. Office practices and procedures, including business correspondence, filing, and operation of office equipment;
ABILITY TO:
1. Interpret, communicate, and apply rules, regulations, laws and policies; 2. Compile and maintain numerical records and reports;
3. Make mathematical computations rapidly and accurately;
4. Plan, schedule, and coordinate work of assistants;
5. Compose letters independently;
6. Exercise independent judgment and discretion;
7. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
8. Take professional notation in a legible and accurate manner.
9. Create electronic documents from clear copy, verbal or written instructions; and
10. Display and maintain computer software competency.
EXPERIENCE/TRAINING/EDUCATION:
Any combination equivalent to:
1. Graduation from high school or an accredited secondary educational institution;
2. Four years of increasingly responsible office or secretarial experience.

Effective 7.1.2025:
2025-2026: Salary schedule increase of 2% and a 2% off-schedule payment at year-end.
2026–2027: Salary schedule increase of 60% of the statutory funded COLA, plus any funded ongoing augmentations as provided in the State Budget Act; 2% off-schedule payment at year-end.
2027–2028: Salary schedule increase of 50% of the statutory funded COLA, plus any funded ongoing augmentations as provided in the State Budget Act; 2% off-schedule payment at year-end
