Reports to the Director of Education. Duties are performed in accordance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA, 20 U.S.C. § 1400 et seq.), California Education Code Part 30 (commencing with § 56000), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, Title 5 of the California Code of Regulations, and the policies, procedures, and Local Plan of the EDCOE Charter Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA).
Requirements / Qualifications
The minimum requirement for a Baypoint Preparatory Academy (BPA) Special Education Teacher is a valid and current California Education Specialist teaching credential issued by the California Commission of Teaching Credentialing. The SPED Coordinator/Teacher must also be deemed highly qualified in one or more core subject areas of instruction as defined by No Child Left Behind and the California Department of Education. A BPA teacher needs to have demonstrated success, either in prior teaching, student teaching, and/or related experiences, in meeting the intellectual, emotional, and physical needs of individual students.
