Requirements / Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent AND: * OPTION ONE: One year of experience working with children in a structured environment, preferably including work with children who have exceptional needs AND a minimum of six college units in such areas as child behavior, child growth and development, health, learning disabilities, early childhood education or child psychology. TRANSCRIPTS MUST BE ATTACHED TO APPLICATION IF APPLYING UNDER THIS OPTION. * OPTION TWO: Two (2) years relevant full time experience in a Special Education classroom may be substituted for college units. * Two (2) recent letters of reference * To be considered all requirements MUST BE ATTACHED when submitting application. Required specialized training (such as Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, CPR, and first aid) will be provided and/or verified by the Lancaster School District at no cost to the applicant.
Applicants must successfully complete each part of the examination process in order to be considered further. WRITTEN TEST: TBD - TIME TO BE DETERMINED PERFORMANCE TEST: TO BE DETERMINED SCORING: Written Examination will carry a weight of 100% All examinations must be passed with 75% or better. An eligibility list will be in effect for 6 months or until less than 3 applicants remain on the list. If FIVE (5) permanent employees from the Lancaster School District demonstrate the ability to meet the job qualifications and pass the examination, the position will be filled on a promotional basis.
