Job Summary
The Director of STEAM and Robotics leads and supports the TK-12 implementation of STEAM-focused instruction by actively partnering with teachers to integrate hands-on, standards-aligned STEAM strategies into daily classroom practice. This position provides direct coaching and modeling in classrooms, ensuring alignment with core curriculum while promoting student engagement, creativity, and critical thinking. The Director also designs and facilitates professional development in STEAM and robotics platforms such as FIRST LEGO League (FLL), FIRST Technical Challenge (FTC), and FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC). In addition, the Director oversees the coordination of competitive robotics teams, promoting a positive and inclusive culture that encourages student leadership, innovation, and real-world problem-solving.
Requirements / Qualifications
Education and Experience: • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in TK-12 education with a strong emphasis on STEAM instruction • Valid California Teaching Credential or CTE credential(required) • Master’s degree in education, CTE, STEAM, or a related field (required) • Administrative Credential (preferred) • Proficiency in robotics platforms • Experience coaching teachers or delivering professional development in STEAM-aligned instruction • Knowledge of FLL, FTC, and FRC • Willingness to attend training, competitions, and coaching meetings (including some evenings/weekends) • Clearance through district hiring protocols (fingerprinting, TB test, etc.)
• Deep knowledge of STEAM instruction, curriculum integration, and robotics education platforms (including FLL, FTC, and FRC). • Understanding of California content standards and how to apply them within STEAM and robotics pathways. • Ability to coach, mentor, and support educators in integrating engineering, coding, and design thinking into instruction. • Strong leadership and project management skills, including the ability to develop strategic plans and guide program implementation TK–12. • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with teachers, administrators, parents, students, and external partners. • Demonstrated experience in delivering high-quality professional development and technical training. • Familiarity with grant writing, fundraising, and resource management for academic and extracurricular programs. • Ability to build and maintain partnerships with industry professionals, higher education institutions, and community organizations. • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple programs, deadlines, and logistics. • Proficiency in computer skills; high proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher) and Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Sites). • Willingness and ability to work evenings and weekends as needed for competitions, practices, or District events

Employee must be available during the core school hours and must work forty (40) hours each week to maintain full-time status. Work is generally performed during regular work hours and extended evenings and/or weekend hours for extra-curricular events, board meetings, special programs, school site operations, or urgent issues as needed. Willingness to attend and actively participate in school-related events outside of regular school hours, including Back-to-School Night, Open House, and other community engagement activities.
