Requirements / Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS FOR CONSIDERATION INCLUDE: • Any combination equivalent to: Graduation from high school supplemented by completion of a State-approved apprenticeship program in the HVAC trade and three years of journey-level experience in the HVAC and refrigerant trade. • Valid California Driver’s License and a current K-4 DMV report with California seal (printed within 7 days of application date). • Valid EPA Refrigerant and Reclamation certification. • Knowledge of methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the maintenance and repair of ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration and heating equipment. • Knowledge of building and other codes, policies, regulations and guidelines related to HVAC and refrigeration systems. • Knowledge of proper use of refrigerant recovery equipment and safe disposal of refrigerant containers. • Knowledge of appropriate safety precautions and procedures. • Knowledge of technical aspects of field of specialty. • Ability to perform journey-level repair, maintenance and installation of ventilation, heating, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment. • Ability to work from blueprints, shop drawings, sketches, and diagrams. • Ability to operate, adjust and service specialized equipment used in the basic trade. • Ability to apply safety standards and procedures. • Ability to perform heavy physical labor. • Ability to operate a variety of tools and equipment utilized in the HVAC and refrigeration trade. __________________________________________________________________
