Paradise Unified School District is looking for a skilled, dependable Transportation Mechanic who takes pride in their work and wants a job where what they do matters every single day. This isn’t a shop where you’ll spend every day doing the same repair over and over. Our Transportation Mechanic works on a diverse fleet that includes school buses, district vehicles, diesel and gasoline engines, electric vehicles, small engines, and other equipment. If you’re the kind of mechanic who likes diagnosing a problem, figuring out the fix, and getting equipment safely back on the road, we want to hear from you. What You’ll Get to Do This is a hands-on position with plenty of variety. You may find yourself: Diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical problems Performing preventative maintenance and safety inspections Working on diesel and gasoline-powered vehicles and equipment Repairing brakes, suspension systems, transmissions, engines, and electrical systems Performing welding and fabrication Making emergency road calls when needed Servicing tires, batteries, belts, hoses, fluids, and other vehicle systems Helping ensure our school buses and District fleet are safe, reliable, and ready to roll Who We’re Looking For We’re looking for someone who knows their way around a shop and can work independently, troubleshoot problems, and take ownership of their work. You may be a great fit if you: Have solid automotive or heavy-equipment mechanical experience Are comfortable diagnosing problems—not just replacing parts Understand shop safety and proper repair practices Can safely operate mechanic tools, shop machinery, welding equipment, and diagnostic technology Take pride in doing the job right Are dependable, safety-minded, and a strong team player A typical qualifying background includes a high school diploma or equivalent and journey-level training or experience as a mec
