Job Summary

Job Summary

Requirements: 12 units in Early Childhood Education or Child Development. Recommended: 1 year of experience (including fieldwork and/or internships). The Monte Vista Children’s Center Teachers work collaboratively with the Center’s Director and Assistant Director to ensure the early childhood programs are high-quality and grounded in research-based, best practices. Teachers supervise and manage each classroom to provide positive educational experiences for children. Teachers are expected to utilize indirect positive guidance by setting up the physical environment to meet changing needs, maintaining a safe, clean, and pleasant environment, modeling and instructing other adults in best practice, and providing information to parents regarding their children as well as general child development information. Teachers assigned a nap room to provide a quiet, safe resting environment for children. Teachers are expected to complete developmental assessments for each child participating in the program and conduct parent conferences with each participating family. Teachers complete and submit reports to the Center’s Director, Assistant Director, and Department of Social Services as required. Teachers ensure each classroom is anti-bias, play based and developmentally appropriate, focused on children’s needs and interests. All center programs provide a kind, safe, and respectful environment for the children, families, staff, and students. Teachers may be expected to assist with rest and meal break provision for coworkers when needed. Strong oral and written communication skills are required. Excellent interpersonal skills are required. An understanding of early childhood growth and development, as well as the ability to apply this understanding to appropriate activities, is required. Must be able to instruct adults by role modeling in interactions with preschool children and their families. Must be able to oversee individual children and a small group of children

Required: Official Transcripts including a minimum of 12 units in Early Childhood Education or Child Development from an accredited college or university. 1 Letter of Recommendation.
