The College Counselor will provide direct support to sophomores, juniors, seniors, and their families in the areas of college readiness, college selection, applications, financial aid, scholarships, academic planning, and postsecondary decision-making. The counselor will play a particularly important role in ensuring that seniors successfully complete the college application and financial aid process while establishing intentional college-readiness programming for students beginning in 10th grade. This position is intended to address an immediate school need while providing both SBCP and the selected candidate an opportunity to evaluate long-term fit. Successful performance during the temporary appointment may lead to consideration for permanent full-time employment, based upon school needs, available funding, demonstrated effectiveness, and mutual interest.

Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to deadlines and detail. Ability to develop positive relationships with students and families from a wide variety of backgrounds. Strong alignment with the mission and values of Catholic education. Preferred Master's degree in counseling, education, school counseling, or a related field. California Pupil Personnel Services Credential or comparable counseling preparation. Experience with Naviance or a comparable college and career readiness platform. Familiarity with UC, CSU, Common Application, NCAA eligibility, FAFSA/CADAA, scholarships, and financial aid. Experience counseling students who may be the first in their families to navigate the college admissions process.
