CAPISTRANO UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT San Juan Capistrano, California HEAD COACH QUALIFICATIONS • Previous coaching experience at the high school level is preferred. • Active participation in the sport at the high school level or above is preferred. • Demonstration of knowledge specific to the sport. • Demonstrates the ability to lead the overall athletic program for a particular sport. • Knowledge of CIF rules and regulations regarding the sport. • Able to maintain a year round, comprehensive time schedule, as needed, and in accordance with appropriate CIF and District rules. Ability to: Comply with the District’s customer service standards, as outlined in Board Policy. PROGRAM RESPONSIBILITIES • Supervises the overall program, including all lower level teams. • Reports to the Athletic Director regarding the development of the program. • Directs the assignments and duties of assistant coaches working the sport. • Provides for the general upkeep and protection of equipment in the program. • Conducts a complete inventory of the equipment used in the sport at the end of the season. • Maintains records, including attendance and grading of students, if an athletic period is awarded. • Prepares and submits a budget for the sport. • Strives to build good sportsmanship and a positive relationship within the school and the community. • Develops standards for earning awards in season of sport. Notifies the athletes and Athletic Director of the criteria. PERSONNEL RESPONSIBILITIES • Assures that assistant coaches know the CIF rules and regulations, the high school’s coaches handbook, and all school rules and regulations. • Supervises the actions and conduct of the team whenever they are under the coach’s supervision. • Explains all CUSD, CIF and school site athletic policies to all members of the team and has all athletes complete and sign the athlete code of conduct. QUALIFICATIONS • Previous coaching experience in Lacrosse at the high school level or above preferred. • Participation in Lacrosse at high school level or above preferred. • An ability to successfully develop and manage a Lacrosse program within the established philosophy of the athletic department, school, district, and C.I.F. • Knowledge of C.I.F. Blue Book Constitution and By-Laws. • Ability to demonstrate the ability to provide leadership and organization for all levels of the high school Lacrosse program. • Knowledge and experience in regard to Lacrosse coaching techniques and evidence of the ability to convey effectively those techniques to young student athletes. • Ability to demonstrate leadership of a successful Lacrosse program. • Possess a valid CPR/First Aid Certificate from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. CUSD does not accept on-line CPR training/certificates. • Possess and will provide a valid completion certificate of NFHS/Concussion in Sports Class Training through http://www.nfhslearn.com. • Possess and will provide a valid completion certificate of NFHS/Sudden Cardiac Arrest Class through http://www.nfhslearn.com. • Possess and will provide a valid completion certificate of NFHS/Heat Illness Prevention Training through http://www.nfhslearn.com. • Possess and will provide a valid completion certificate of NFHS/Fundamentals of Coaching Training through http://www.nfhslearn.com. • Possess and will provide a current Mantoux, PPD or TST TB test results. RESPONSIBILITIES • Acting as a liaison between the school and the community to promote a positive image for the program. • Organization and scheduling of practices and games for all levels. • Organization of summer camp(s) and off-season program. • Support “Pursuing Victory with Honor” component within the Lacrosse program. • Start Date: ASAP
