PRIMARY FUNCTION: The job of Library/Media Specialist was established for the purpose/s of promoting, supporting and encouraging literacy; maintaining library collection, assisting students, staff and community in utilizing library resources; performing clerical functions related to collection, processing, circulation, maintenance, and inventory of library and curriculum materials. This job is distinguished from similar jobs by the following characteristics: specialized knowledge of library operations and procedures; ability to communicate with school age children. Incumbents work independently but within a framework of policies and procedures.
