EMPLOYMENT CLASSIFICATION Hourly; Non-exempt PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY To provide education to the Transitional Kindergarten - 8th grade school students in alignment with Redeemer’s mission and vision in the absence of the primary classroom teacher. QUALIFICATIONS Previous teaching, or substituting, experience is preferred. Credentialed in the state of CA, or eligible for credentialing, Bachelor’s degree preferred. Able to work collaboratively with staff, parents, students, and community with excellent classroom management, communication, and interpersonal skills. Able to communicate in the English language effectively both verbally and in writing. Possess the ability to work in a Christian environment and apply Christian values in the classroom through students’ words, attitudes, and actions. RESPONSIBILITIES Assume responsibility for student discipline and safety. Provides classroom instruction to students as outlined in lesson plans. Maintains established routine of the school and classroom procedures in which assigned. Take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials & facilities. Maintains classroom and school rules of conduct. Communicates effectively with the teacher of record as needed. Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and times designated. Completes other duties as assigned. WORKING CONDITIONS Indoor and outdoor supervision of students PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to bend, squat, kneel occasionally; ability to stand or walk up to 6 hours, sit on occasion Possible lifting of up to 40 pounds CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Successful passing of Department of Justice (DOJ) background check Proof of negative TB screening within last sixty days prior to employment ACCOUNTABILITY: The Substitute Teacher is directly supervised by the Head of School.
