Job Summary

ELOP Bus Driver/Custodian/Maintenance will, under supervision of the Maintenance, Operations and Transportation (MOT) Supervisor or designee, perform a wide variety of specialized and responsible tasks relating to the District’s Maintenance, Operations and Transportation department including transporting students over scheduled routes and/or special excursions; enforcing rules, regulations and laws to maintain safety during transport; ensuring vehicle is in safe operating condition; and ensuring safety of students during transport, loading and unloading from buses. In addition to driving the bus, a variety of work including custodian, maintenance and grounds work will be required, depending on the needs of the District.

Requirements / Qualifications

Tentative Schedule: 8 hours/day, 260 work days; 11 am - 7:30 pm; This position requires flexibility, and will require some Saturday work days per the ELOP Events Schedule. Employees will be provided a custom work calendar. This position is a full-time position. 1. Education: High school diploma or equivalent. 2. Certification: Possession of a valid California Class B Motor Vehicle Operator’s License (plus endorsement for passengers and air brakes), a valid California School Bus Driver Certificate and a valid Medical Examiner’s Certificate (DMV No. DL51A), Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance, Drug Testing Clearance and any other certification required for a Class B Driver's License. Possession of a valid First Aid, Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate. 3. Experience: Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school or possession of GED required; a minimum of one (1) year of custodial and/or maintenance experience and six (6) months as a bus driver or one (1) year of general driving experience preferred. 4. Training: Ongoing training (e.g. Mandated Reporter, Sudden Cardiac Arrest, suicide prevention, etc.) as required by federal or state law, board policy and/or as directed by the Superintendent. 5. Personal Qualifications: Better than average recommendations from professionals who have observed the personal characteristics and work habits of the individual. 6. Communication: Ability to read and write in English; bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Possession of a valid California Class B Motor Vehicle Operator’s License (plus endorsement for passengers and air brakes) is required.
