Job Summary
Under the direction of the Transportation Supervisor and Director, to drive a school bus over designated routes to transport students; to clean and perform a routine inspection of buses and do related work as required. QUALIFICATIONS- Required: 1. Valid California Class A or B driver’s license with passenger endorsement (A-P or B-P) and School Bus Certificates and endorsements. 2. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. 3. High school graduate. 4. Current and valid first aid certificate (VC 12522) and medical certificate. Desirable: 1. Experience interacting with students. 2. Previous experience operating buses. This position is part of the Classified Employee Unit at MCUSD/MCOE and will be placed depending on experience on the Classified Employee Salary schedule on Range 19. Bus drivers are contracted 202 days a year and late run routes are contracted for 148 days a year. The following routes are currently vacant:
*Route 9 @ 5.25/hours a day
*Route 4 @ 5.75/hours a day
*Late Run R1 @ 2.25/hours a day
*Late Run R2 @ 2.00/hours a day

This is an ideal position for retirees or stay-at-home parents looking to make extra income during the school year. Substitute and extra help drivers don’t have to drive every school day – we can work with your schedule.

With approximately 1,700 students, the area consists of several necessary small schools, K-8 schools, and one comprehensive high school. Mariposa County has several rural communities that surround Yosemite National Park and are centrally located in California to provide a day's drive to old-growth forests, deserts, coastal communities, and cities. The area is suited for those interested in outdoor activities and rural community life.
