Work Location Los Padrinos School, 7285 Quill Dr., Downey, CA 90242 The Position Under the direction of the Director III, Los Padrinos School, the Assistant Director provides specialized instructional, operational, and student support leadership in a juvenile court school setting. This role supports systemwide implementation of educational reform, special education compliance, integrated student services, and continuous improvement strategies aligned to LACOE’s Strategic Plan and County mandates. The Assistant Director is responsible for supervising certificated and classified staff; supporting instructional quality; ensuring fidelity of IEP implementation; strengthening school climate and safety; and coordinating with Probation, Mental Health, community partners, and sending districts. The position requires advanced knowledge of alternative education, special education, trauma-informed practices, restorative approaches, and data-driven improvement, as well as the ability to lead in highly regulated environments. This role serves as a key operational and instructional leader supporting suspension reduction efforts, attendance improvement, staff development, and the expansion of postsecondary and Career Technical Education pathways for incarcerated and court-involved youth.

Requirements / Qualifications

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. Experience: • Five or more years of experience in education as a teacher or service provider with progressively responsible leadership roles • Experience working with justice-involved or at-promise youth highly desirable • Experience in special education strongly preferred Education: • Master’s degree in Educational Leadership or Administration (or related field) from a regionally accredited institution required License or Certificate • Valid California Credential (Multiple Subject, Single Subject, Education Specialist, or Pupil Personnel Services) • Valid California Administrative Services Credential
