Under the supervision of the site Principal, supervise students before school, during lunch and recess, and after school and maintain effective discipline.

Requirements / Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Experience: - Any combination equivalent to: a High School diploma or equivalent, and experience in working with students or youth groups desired. Knowledge of: - District and school policies, rules and regulations. - General needs and social and emotional characteristics of students. - General safety practices. - Conflict resolution techniques. Ability to: - Work effectively and efficiently with all levels of District personnel, students, parents and the public. - Communicate effectively. - Maintain confidentiality. - Exercise tact and good judgment in disseminating information. - Be innovative and flexible. - Work effectively without close supervision. - Understand and carry out oral and written instructions. Issue understandable instructions. - Maintain cooperative working relationships with supervisor and others contacted in the course of work. - Present a positive image of the District and its operation to the public. - Establish a rapport with students at lunch and play; be mobile on playground. - Problem solve and work independently. - Utilize common sense while intervening in disputes. - Maintain acceptable standards of behavior among students.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Enforce District and school policies and rules. - Supervise, redirect, intervene, and/or report student behavior in non-classroom activities including, but not limited to: before school, recess, lunch time, and after school. - Operate a two-way radio as needed. - Maintain order and cleanliness in cafeteria and surrounding eating areas during lunchtime and recess. - Assist with directing and monitoring traffic either before and/or after school.
