JOB DESCRIPTION CLASSIFIED POSITION
JOB TITLE: School Secretary

REPORTS TO: Principal

JOB GOAL: To assist the Principal in the effective and efficient operation of the
school office and reflect a positive image to all persons who enter the school.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Is responsible for secretarial duties for the Principal which will include correspondence,
reports, applications, teacher and student handbooks. Acts as a liaison for the Principal with other employees and supervises the school office in the absence of the principal at the direction of the principal. Acts as receptionist for the school office.

2. Is responsible for all attendance and enrollment reports as required by the principal and the district office.

3. Is responsible for supervision of the stockroom and its inventory. Recommends instructional materials and other purchases to the Principal.

4. Is responsible for enrolling students, sending and receiving student files, records,
transcripts and maintains class lists.

5. Arranges appointments for the Principal with other employees, parents, teachers and students.

6. Administers first aid and assistance to students as directed by the Principal.

7. Contacts parents regarding absences, tardies and other attendance matters.

8. Oversees the "ASB" accounts, including reviewing monthly statements and balancing the bank account.
9. Performs other duties as assigned. EDUCATION:
10. High school diploma or Equivalent with courses in office and business education.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. 1-3 years of progressively responsible and demonstrated experience in a clerical
position.

2. May take and pass written and oral tests to determine ability and skills in reading, writing, spelling, mathematics, use of English and other related subjects.

3. Must maintain the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected from all employees.

4. Must have a valid California Driver's License.

5. Must take and pass fingerprints and skin test or x-rays examinations.

6. May take and pass doctor's health examination if required.

7. Must obey all rules, regulations and policies of the Board of Education and all laws
in the performance of all duties.

High School Diploma or Equivalent. Desirable Qualifications: Business English, spelling, punctuation; modern office practices, procedures and equipment; good receptionist and telephone techniques; letter and report writing, common office machines and their operation.
