Substitute Teacher — Golden Eagle Charter School

Grade Levels: Transitional Kindergarten–12

Reports To: Principal, School Administrator, or Designee

Position Summary

The Substitute Teacher provides instructional continuity and student supervision in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. The position is responsible for following lesson plans, maintaining a safe and positive learning environment, managing student behavior, and supporting the school’s educational program and policies.

Essential Responsibilities

1. Implement lesson plans and classroom activities provided by the regular teacher.
2. Provide appropriate instruction, supervision, and classroom management for students in TK–12.
3. Maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment.
4. Take attendance and complete required classroom documentation.
5. Monitor students during classroom activities, transitions, lunch, recess, and other assigned duties.
6. Support students with varied academic, developmental, and learning needs.
7. Communicate relevant student or classroom concerns to the appropriate administrator or staff member.
8. Follow school policies, procedures, safety protocols, and confidentiality requirements.
9. Use instructional technology and school systems as required.
10. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum requirement

1. Valid California credential, Emergency 30-Day Substitute Teaching Permit, Emergency Substitute Teaching Permit for Prospective Teachers, or other CTC document authorizing substitute teaching in the assignment.
2. Experience working with children or adolescents preferred.
3. Strong communication, organization, classroom-management, and interpersonal skills.
4. Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and adapt to different grade levels and classroom environments.
