Technical Director & Rehearsal Assistant Job Description (Part-Time, 20 hrs/week) MISSION University Preparatory Academy’s mission is to prepare a diverse population of 7th through 12th-grade students in Santa Clara County to enter and excel in the best colleges and universities in the nation. The Technical Director & Rehearsal Assistant supports the middle and high school theatre program (grades 7–12) through rehearsal supervision, technical theatre instruction, stage combat coaching, production management, and school-wide audio/visual support. This position plays a key role in fostering a safe, collaborative, and creative environment for student performers and technicians while assisting with the successful execution of productions and events. Primary Responsibilities Rehearsal & Performance Support * Serve as Rehearsal Assistant for after-school theatre rehearsals: * Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 3:00 PM–5:30 PM * Supervise weekly Improv rehearsals: Wednesdays from 4:00 PM–5:30 PM * Assist directors and students during rehearsals by supporting organization, communication, attendance, blocking notes, and rehearsal logistics * Maintain a positive, inclusive, and disciplined rehearsal environment Technical Theatre Instruction * Assist with Technical Theatre classes: * Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 1:45 PM–3:45 PM * Support instruction in backstage operations, lighting, sound, scenic construction, props, costumes, and stage management * Mentor students in safe and effective theatre production practices Production Management & Technical Direction ? Coordinate and manage technical aspects of school theatre productions ? Oversee production schedules, backstage operations, and technical rehearsals ? Support performances and special events, including: * Technical rehearsals from 3:30 PM–7:30 PM * Performances from 4:30 PM–9:00 PM * Collaborate with faculty, student crews, and volunteers to ensure succ
