Job Summary

Under the direction of an assigned supervisor assist a certificated teacher in reinforcing instruction to individuals or small groups of special education students with a variety of severe mental, emotional and physical handicaps in a learning environment; assist assigned teacher(s) and certificated personnel with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEP’s); monitor and report student progress regarding behavior and performance; assist in the preparation of instructional materials and perform a variety of clerical duties as assigned. THIS IS AN ON-CALL AS NEEDED JOB. YOU MUST BE AVAILABLE AT LEAST 3 DAYS PER WEEK.

Requirements / Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school or high school equivalency and one year experience working with school age children in an organized setting. Paid or unpaid experience working with handicapped individuals is desirable. LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Successful completion of District-administered State-mandated proficiency examination.
