Assistant Middle School Cheer Coach – Responsibilities The Assistant Cheer Coach supports the Head Cheer Coach in supervising and developing the middle school cheer program for 7th-grade and 8th-grade students. The assistant coach helps maintain a safe, organized, and positive environment during practices, games, performances, and team activities. Primary Responsibilities Student Supervision Assist with supervision of cheerleaders at all practices, games, performances, and team events. Provide active supervision both inside and outside the gym, including: Locker room and restroom monitoring Hallways and campus transitions Pre-game and post-game dismissal Outdoor waiting and pickup areas Ensure students remain safe, respectful, and compliant with school and athletic policies. Practice & Performance Support Assist with leading practices and skill development activities. Help teach cheers, chants, motions, jumps, and halftime routines. Support preparation for combined squad halftime performances and special events. Game-Day Responsibilities Assist with supervision and organization during all 7th-grade and 8th-grade home basketball games. Help coordinate team warm-ups, lineup organization, and sideline management. Support student participation and maintain appropriate behavior throughout events. Tournament & Event Assistance Assist during basketball tournaments and other school athletic events requiring cheer participation. Help supervise students during extended event hours and transitions between locations. Communication & Team Support Reinforce expectations established by the Head Coach. Maintain positive communication with students, families, and school staff. Support team morale, sportsmanship, and school spirit. Safety & Program Expectations Monitor student safety and report concerns or injuries immediately. Assist with enforcing school, district, and athletic department rules. Help
