PRIMARY FUNCTION: Under the direction of the Principal, the Reading Specialist supports student achievement by providing literacy intervention, coaching teachers, and promoting effective reading instruction. The Reading Specialist works collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and families to improve reading outcomes through high-quality instruction, assessment, and professional learning. This position is funded through the LCRSET Grant and is contingent upon continued grant funding. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Student Support • Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 reading intervention for students. • Assess students to identify reading strengths and areas of need. • Develop and monitor student intervention plans with classroom teachers. • Provide individual, small-group, and occasional whole-class reading instruction. • Monitor student progress and adjust instruction based on assessment data. Teacher Support • Coach and support teachers in effective literacy instruction. • Model research-based reading strategies in classrooms. • Assist teachers in using assessment data to plan instruction. • Participate in grade-level PLCs and collaborative planning meetings. • Provide feedback and instructional support to improve literacy practices. Professional Learning • Plan and facilitate professional development focused on literacy instruction. • Provide ongoing support in the use of reading assessments and intervention programs. • Share current research and best practices in literacy. Program Support • Maintain literacy intervention materials and resources. • Assist with literacy program implementation and monitoring. • Collaborate with administrators to strengthen the school's literacy program. • Participate in parent conferences and literacy workshops as needed. • Perform other related duties as assigned. • Establish an evidence-based family literacy initiat

• Valid California Teaching Credential with English Learner Authorization.
• Reading and Literacy Added Authorization or Reading Specialist Credential (preferred or required based on grant requirements).
• Minimum of five years of successful classroom teaching experience preferred.
• Experience teaching reading and providing literacy intervention.
• Experience working with English Learners.
• Strong knowledge of evidence-based literacy instruction and assessment.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish is desirable.
