Requirements / Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Any combination equivalent to:
- Generally, any combination of training and experience that could provide the required knowledge and abilities is considered qualifying. A typical method of demonstrating these qualifications is three years of experience in the natural sciences, environmental education, summer day camp programs or a related field.
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- A valid first aid certificate and a cardiopulmonary (CPR) certificate
- A valid California Driver's License
- A driving record that meets the insurance requirements of the County Office of Education

POSITION SUMMARY The Educational Services Division is now accepting applications for Outdoor Recreation Specialist. The Outdoor Recreation Specialist will organize, participate and supervise safe and suitable activities for children in the outdoor education program at the Walden West Center of the Santa Clara County Office of Education. Employees in Outdoor Recreation Specialist positions are scheduled to work swing shift hours. This position has a work calendar of 10 months / 175 days / 6 hours per day. (Swing Shift Hours) This position will be temporarily located at Camp Via West (13851 Stevens Canyon Road, Cupertino, CA 95014) during construction.

- Based on the final scores of qualified candidates, Classified Personnel Services will establish a ranked candidate list.
- Selected candidates from the list will be invited to a second interview with the hiring authorities, tentatively scheduled for September 30, 2026.
- Second interviews may be held in-person.
