Job Summary

Under the direction of the Assistant Director, Online Teacher, or Lead Tutor, the Instructional Assistant/Tutor provides individual and small-group instruction to help students in grades TK–12 complete independent coursework assignments and strengthen their literacy and mathematics skills as part of a high-quality, personalized educational program. Instructional support is delivered through questioning, prompting, modeling, scaffolding, and other evidence-based instructional strategies that promote critical thinking, student independence, and authentic learning. The Instructional Assistant/Tutor facilitates learning by guiding students to develop their own understanding and arrive at solutions rather than providing answers, completing assignments, or otherwise compromising the authenticity of student work. The Instructional Assistant/Tutor is responsible for upholding the mission and values of California Pacific Charter Schools, maintaining academic integrity, collaborating with instructional staff to monitor students' academic progress, and supporting students' social and emotional development. The candidate in this position will work with students from 15 - 20 hours per week. Employees must reside within the state of California for the duration of their employment with CalPac. The position is scheduled to begin on September 3, 2026.

Requirements / Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Paid or volunteer experience working with students in an academic setting. Associate’s degree or higher education, or successful completion of the CBEST is required. Bilingual English/Spanish is highly desirable.

In addition to the required documents, background checks are conducted on all prospective new hires. State and federal fingerprint clearance (LiveScan) to work with students (Ed. Code 44237). No prospective employee can report to work without this clearance being received and the Human Resources notifying the immediate supervisor of this clearance. Proof of a clear TB test dated within the last 60 days (Ed. Code 49406) must be provided upon employment and thereafter updated every four years.
