The Shasta Family YMCA is hiring Y Club Mentors to lead safe, enriching afterschool activities for middle and high school students. Working under the Program Director and Family Service Manager, the Mentor builds strong relationships with youth, families, volunteers, and community partners while creating a positive, well-organized learning environment. The Y Club Mentor supports the Program Director and Childcare Manager in running the on-site Y Club program, delivering developmentally appropriate daily activities for middle and high school students during afterschool hours. Key responsibilities include tracking attendance and managing check-ins, maintaining a clean and safe program space, keeping accurate records (attendance, meal counts, temperature logs), and ensuring equipment and supplies are well-maintained. The Mentor also cultivates positive relationships with volunteers, parents, schools, and community partners, represents the YMCA at community events, and stays current on CACFP/SFSP compliance requirements and ongoing training. Qualifications: Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent, have experience working with children in an organized setting, and pass a DOJ/FBI LiveScan background check. Mandated Reporter and CPR/First Aid (EMSA-approved) certifications are required within 90 days of hire. Candidates should demonstrate the YMCA's four core values — caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. Physical demands: The role involves continual walking, standing, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbs, in both indoor and outdoor settings with exposure to varying weather conditions.
