Lead the Shop That Keeps Our Students Moving Paradise Unified School District is seeking an experienced, highly skilled mechanic and working leader to serve as our Transportation Shop Foreman. This position is ideal for a seasoned transportation or fleet professional who takes pride in solving complex mechanical problems, maintaining safe and dependable vehicles, and leading others by example. The Shop Foreman plays a critical role in keeping the District’s buses, vans, service vehicles, and equipment safe, reliable, and ready to support students and schools every day. Under the general direction of the Director of Transportation, the Shop Foreman schedules, prioritizes, oversees, and actively participates in the maintenance and repair of District vehicles and mechanical equipment. This is an advanced journey-level and lead position requiring strong technical knowledge, sound judgment, organization, and the ability to manage both routine maintenance and urgent repairs. What You Will Do The Shop Foreman serves as the technical lead for the District’s transportation maintenance operations. Responsibilities include: Prioritizing, inspecting, and participating in the repair and servicing of school buses, automobiles, trucks, tractors, and other District equipment. Diagnosing complex mechanical, electrical, fuel, brake, steering, suspension, transmission, and engine problems. Performing advanced repairs on gasoline, diesel, and compressed natural gas-powered vehicles and equipment. Rebuilding and overhauling engines, transmissions, differentials, axles, brake systems, ignition systems, and related components. Scheduling and coordinating shop assignments and overseeing the work of mechanics and service personnel. Inspecting completed work for quality, accuracy, safety, and compliance with established standards. Developing and implementing preventive maintenance programs for District vehicles and equipment.
