Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Adult School Principal and Adult School Program Coordinator, the Adult ESL Teacher provides English as a Second Language (ESL) instruction to adult learners in beginning through advanced proficiency levels, planning and effectively implementing standards-aligned and culturally responsive lessons that meet adult learners’ diverse needs. The teacher supports students in developing English language proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, writing, digital literacy, civics, workforce readiness, and academic skills in both in-person and virtual learning environments. The teacher plays a key role in instruction, student assessment, individualized support, and program improvement while maintaining accurate records and engaging in collaborative planning.

Requirements / Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university - Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university highly desired - Possession of a Valid California Teaching Credential authorizing adult education instruction, including Designated Subjects Adult Education, Single Subject, Multiple Subject, or equivalent authorization - CLAD authorization or English Learner certification or equivalent certification required - Experience teaching ESL or English language development to adult learners is preferred. - Experience delivering instruction in in-person, online, hybrid, or HyFlex learning environments preferred - Experience with CASAS implementation, California adult education accountability systems, and WIOA Title II programs desirable
