Under the immediate direction of a classroom teacher, asists in the preparation and delivery of instructional materials; assist and tutors pupils individually and in small groups.
About Our School
Richfield Elementary is a single school district, with an enrollment of approximately 250 students. Richfield school has a rich history dating back over 100 years across three school sites, and our campus is still considered “new,” being constructed in 2007.
Richfield Elementary is a safe school for both students and adults. Our students are held to high expectations, are well behaved, and they respect our staff. Our suspension and discipline rates are among the lowest in the Northstate. Our students frequently receive academic honors. As an example, our students are regularly recognized in the local paper for academics and citizenship. Students who graduate from Richfield regularly earn the Valedictorian and/or Salutatorian after promoting to Corning High School. Richfield students have access to separate PE and Art classes which creates a diverse learning experience for our students. Our school has also been focusing on the social and emotional wellbeing of our students and staff, and we’ve put in place many supports and outlets for students and adults to connect with each other, and our school. Our students attend school in a family-like atmosphere and our campus has a park-like feel.
Our district believes that teachers and students should have all the tools needed to be effective, and we prioritize and invest in the teacher and student classroom needs. Classroom supply budgets are extensive and all-inclusive, and each student and teacher has a full suite of technology, 1:1 Chromebooks, new Smartboards in every room, document cameras, AV equipment and unlimited copies. Our school also has a very active Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). Our two biggest PTO driven fundraisers bring in almost twenty thousand dollars annually which goes directly to student enrichment and teacher requested items such as larger field trips, technology purchases, special curriculum, school connectedness activities, rallies or assemblies.
Richfield utilizes the “self-contained” homeroom model from TK-8th Grade. With the exception of recess, PE and art, our students remain with their homeroom teacher throughout the day. With this configuration, our teachers and support staff are able to form strong learning relationships with their own group of students. Richfield staff receive regular professional development on a variety of subjects including school safety/security, crisis management, CPR, English language development (ELD), academic and social-emotional curriculum.
Richfield’s salary is competitive, and we honor up to 5 years of service credit from other districts. Additionally, our staff often have the opportunity to receive stipends for outside duties such as coaching and committee work. QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION: Must have high school diploma or the equivalent. Must have passed the County Aide Proficiency test or possess an A.A. degree or higher, have 2 years of college (48 units). Must meet all requirements of the No Child Left Behind Act.
Must have passed the County Aide Proficiency test or possessed an A.A. degree or higher (48 units) and provide documentation. Two current (past 2 years) letters of recommendation related to employment Proof of TB clearance. To comply with the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986, all new employees must provide proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States. Ability to exercise discretion, tact, and confidentiality when meeting with parents and the
public.
Must have personality to maintain human relationships required by a public service
agency, and the ability to deal effectively with staff, parents, students, administration, etc.
Ability to read, write, speak, and communicate effectively in English.
Ability to attend to students with special needs, including washing, toileting, and related
needs.
Demonstrated ability to work independently with students in an effective manner.
Bilingual is a plus
May also have to supervise on the playground, help in the cafeteria or drive school van
