Job Summary

The Athletic Department Assistant supports the daily operations of the athletic program by assisting with sports conditioning classes, supervising athletic events and games, and providing administrative support to the Athletic Director. This position requires a dependable, organized, and energetic individual who enjoys working with student-athletes, coaches, and staff while promoting a safe, positive, and professional athletic environment.

Requirements / Qualifications

Essential Responsibilities: Sports Conditioning Support - Ability to lead student-athletes through conditioning training. - Assist instructors during sports conditioning classes. - Help set up and organize equipment before and after workouts. - Monitor students to ensure proper use of equipment and adherence to safety guidelines. - Encourage positive participation and sportsmanship. - Maintain a clean, organized, and safe training environment. Game and Event Supervision - Assist with supervision of athletic contests and special events. - Monitor spectator and student behavior to promote a safe and positive atmosphere. - Support coaches, officials, and event staff as needed. - Assist with crowd management and respond appropriately to routine game-day situations. Athletic Director Support - Provide administrative assistance with scheduling, communication, and organization. - Help maintain athletic records, inventories, and equipment tracking. - Prepare materials for meetings, events, and athletic programs. - Support special projects and other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director. Qualifications - High school diploma required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred. - Experience working in athletics, coaching, fitness, recreation, or education is preferred. - Strong organizational and communication skills. - Ability to work effectively with students, staff, coaches, and parents. - Ability to lift and move athletic equipment (up to 40 pounds). - CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain certification. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Understanding of sports conditioning and athletic safety practices. - Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities. - Dependable, professional, and able to maintain confidentiality. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
