Full-Time 5th Grade Associate Teacher

Maimonides Academy is seeking a dedicated, energetic, and collaborative Associate Teacher to join our 5th Grade team for the upcoming school year.

This is an outstanding opportunity for someone who loves working with upper elementary students and wants to grow as an educator while partnering with an experienced lead teacher. The Associate Teacher is an essential member of the classroom team, helping create a positive, engaging, and academically rigorous learning environment where every child can thrive.

Responsibilities

1. Partner closely with the Lead Teacher to support daily classroom instruction.
2. Work with individuals and small groups to reinforce learning and provide targeted support.
3. Help implement engaging lessons across core academic subjects.
4. Assist with classroom management and foster a warm, respectful classroom culture.
5. Support student organization, independence, and executive functioning skills.
6. Prepare instructional materials and assist with classroom organization.
7. Supervise students during recess, lunch, and other assigned duties.
8. Collaborate regularly with grade-level teachers and school staff to support student success.
9. Communicate professionally with colleagues and contribute positively to the school community.

Qualifications

1. Bachelor's degree required. Enrollment in or completion of a credentialing program is preferred.
2. Currently enrolled in a teaching credential program or recently completed a teaching credential program preferred.
3. Experience working with elementary-aged children preferred.
4. Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
5. Positive, flexible, and team-oriented mindset.
6. Passion for helping students grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
7. Ability to build strong relationships with children, families, and colleagues.

This position is ideal for educators who are currently enrolled in a teaching credential program and are looking for a classroom where they can complete their student teaching while receiving daily mentorship from an experienced teacher. It is also an excellent opportunity for teachers who have recently earned their credential and value continuing to refine their practice by working alongside another experienced educator before leading a classroom independently.

No background in Judaism or Jewish education is required. Our General Studies teachers teach a traditional elementary curriculum, while a separate Religious Studies teacher partners with the classroom for that portion of the day. This collaborative model allows teachers to focus on excellent instruction while working as part of a supportive teaching team.
