Job Summary

Mission Viejo Christian School is seeking a Christ-centered, relational, and highly organized Assistant Principal to serve as a key member of the school's leadership team. This leader is responsible for cultivating a Christ-centered culture where students flourish, teachers are supported, and families feel deeply connected to the life of the school. The Assistant Principal oversees the daily operations of the campus, promotes student growth and accountability, supports faculty, and partners closely with the Principal to ensure Mission Viejo Christian School remains a place of excellence, joy, and belonging. This position is responsible for ensuring that the mission and values of Mission Viejo Christian School are reflected in the daily experience of every student, parent, and staff member. Through visible leadership, servant-hearted relationships, and operational excellence, the Assistant Principal helps create a campus where students are encouraged to become respectful, responsible, and relational followers of Christ. Essential Responsibilities Leadership Serve as a key member of the school's leadership team, partnering with the Principal to advance the mission, vision, and strategic priorities of the school. Lead the implementation of school-wide operational initiatives and strategic priorities. Participate in long-range strategic planning and organizational leadership. Exercise sound judgment in making day-to-day operational and student management decisions consistent with the mission and policies of the school. Ensure the consistent implementation of school policies and procedures. Maintain a highly visible presence throughout campus, building meaningful relationships with students, families, faculty, and staff. Model the love of Christ through humility, integrity, servant leadership, grace, and a commitment to building meaningful relationships. Student Life Lead student discipline through consistent, restorative, and biblically grounded practices that promote growth, responsibility, and reconciliation. Foster a joyful, Christ-centered campus culture where students learn to be respectful, responsible, and relational in every aspect of school life. Build authentic relationships with students that encourage spiritual, social, emotional, and behavioral growth. Partner with teachers and families to support student success and address behavioral, emotional, or social concerns. Lead and coordinate Student Success Team (SST) meetings in collaboration with teachers, counselors, and administrators. Oversee student supervision during arrival, dismissal, recesses, lunch periods, chapel, assemblies, and extracurricular activities. Ensure a safe, orderly, and welcoming campus through effective implementation of safety procedures, emergency preparedness, and crisis response plans. Campus Operations Provide leadership for the daily operations of the school, ensuring an organized, efficient, and well-supported campus. Develop and oversee grade-level schedules, specialist schedules, recess schedules, campus supervision schedules, meeting schedules, and other operational calendars. Coordinate substitute teacher coverage and oversee instructional aides and campus support staff. Collaborate with facilities and operations personnel to ensure a safe, functional, and attractive learning environment. Identify operational challenges and implement proactive solutions that improve the daily experience of students, faculty, and families. Ensure operational systems and procedures support the school's mission and commitment to excellence. Faculty Leadership Partner with the Principal in recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding faculty and staff. Mentor and encourage teachers through relationship-building, collaboration, and day-to-day leadership. Help facilitate new teacher orientation and support ongoing professional growth opportunities. Provide leadership to grade-level and department teams by fostering collaboration, communication, accountability, and shared ownership of school initiatives. Foster a healthy faculty culture by encouraging teamwork, celebrating successes, supporting staff well-being, and building meaningful professional relationships. Promote a culture of excellence through clear expectations, servant leadership, and mutual accountability. School Programs & Community Lead the planning and coordination of graduation ceremonies, awards programs, assemblies, parent events, and other significant school traditions. Partner with the Principal and leadership team to ensure school events reflect the mission, values, and culture of Mission Viejo Christian School. Coordinate Parent-Teacher Conferences and other family engagement opportunities. Build strong partnerships with parents through open communication, responsiveness, and collaborative problem solving. Represent the school with professionalism, warmth, hospitality, and exceptional customer service. Strengthen the sense of community by cultivating meaningful relationships among students, families, faculty, and staff. Qualifications Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in Educational Leadership or a related field preferred. Valid California teaching credential required. California Administrative Credential preferred or willingness to obtain. Successful classroom teaching experience with demonstrated leadership responsibilities. Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. Ability to lead teams, manage multiple priorities, make sound decisions, and remain calm under pressure. Demonstrated ability to build trust, resolve conflict, and lead with wisdom, discernment, and grace.
