Job Summary

Under the direction of the Director or designee, the Community Schools Coordinator works collaboratively with the community school coordinators, liaisons, school leadership teams, teachers, families and community members to improve children’s academic achievement, strengthen family functioning, increase family involvement in their children’s education and communities, and make the school an inclusive and welcoming place. The Community School Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day management of a community school strategy and for building and maintaining relationships with administration, faculty, staff, and students as the “community organizer” of the school and community. The Community School Coordinator will create, strengthen, and maintain the bridge between the school and community, facilitate and provide leadership for the collaborative process and development of a continuum of services for children, families and community members within the school districts. Please Note: This is a Temporary, Grant Funded Position sponsored through the Southern Tulare Collective - Community Schools Grant (SUESD, Terra Bella, Ducor, and Alpaugh School Districts). This position will serve the Terra Bella Union Elementary School District.

Requirements / Qualifications

Please Note: This is a Temporary, Grant Funded Position sponsored through the Southern Tulare Collective - Community Schools Grant (SUESD, Terra Bella, Ducor, and Alpaugh School Districts). This position will serve the Terra Bella Union Elementary School District. Education & Experience: Experience in community organizing, education, health or social work (preferred), AA degree (preferred). Certification: Possession of a valid First Aid, Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate required based on job duties. Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator’s License. Training: Ongoing training (e.g. Mandated Reporter, Sudden Cardiac Arrest, suicide prevention, etc.) as required by federal or state law, board policy and/or as directed by the Superintendent. Acquire and annually maintain Nonviolent Crisis Prevention & Intervention (CPI) training certification. Communication: Ability to read and write in English; bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Submit and clear a pre-employment drug screening and DOJ/FBI background screening. Proof of freedom from active tuberculosis at time of employment and every (4) years thereafter. 2 Letters of Recommendation Resume
