Riviera Hall Lutheran School is seeking a caring, dependable, and enthusiastic Math Teaching Assistant / Playground Supervisor to join our Christ-centered school community. The ideal candidate enjoys working with children, has strong math skills, and is passionate about helping students build confidence while supporting teachers in creating a positive learning environment. Position: Math Teaching Assistant Employment Type: Part-Time, Non-Exempt Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:15 AM – 2:15 PM Compensation: $20.00 per hour Position Summary The Math Teaching Assistant provides instructional support to students and teachers while fostering a safe, engaging, and Christ-centered learning environment. This position includes assisting with math instruction, supporting students with varying learning needs, reinforcing classroom expectations, and supervising students during recess, lunch, chapel, and other school activities. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Math Instructional Support Assist students with foundational math concepts, including number sense, operations, fractions, decimals, percentages, pre-algebra, and Algebra I. Support differentiated instruction and learning accommodations under the direction of the classroom teacher and Learning Specialist. Assist the classroom teacher with grading assignments, quizzes, assessments, and classroom activities. Provide constructive feedback to students under teacher supervision. Enter grades into the school's grading system as assigned. Prepare instructional materials, math manipulatives, copies, games, assessments, and classroom resources. Support classroom routines and organization.
Requirements / Qualifications
Qualifications Must be at least 18 years of age. High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required. Strong math skills through Algebra I. Experience working with children ages 10–14 preferred. Ability to explain math concepts clearly and encourage student confidence. Strong communication, teamwork, organization, and classroom management skills. Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality. Live Scan fingerprint clearance required. Pre-employment health screening and TB clearance required.
