English Language Development Teacher

Brief Description of Position

Provides English language development instruction for students and assists in other school programs as assigned.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Provides instruction in English Language Development as well as learning experiences and other appropriate learning activities to English Learners in core subject areas and other subjects as determined by the District. Instructs pupils in basic oral and written communication skills, as specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the District. Develops and uses instructional materials suitable for English Learners with wide ranges of English language proficiency levels. Provides individual and group instruction designed to meet individual needs and help English Learners acquire the English skills necessary for re-designation purposes. Assesses language proficiency and evaluates academic growth of pupils, and maintains appropriate records. Consistently communicates with parents, holds parent conferences and interprets the school English Language Development Program goals throughout the school year. Participates and provides in-service education activities to staff and volunteers and continues professional growth opportunities.

Other Duties

Supervises pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day. Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs within the school of assignment and/or on a district level. Administers student tests in accordance with district testing program, and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Credential:  Appropriate credential for providing English Language Development instruction to English Learners (Multiple Subject with CLAD)
