BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: The employee will be required to drive district trucks as well as the district’s school bus. The position is under the direct supervision of the Chief Business Official. However, the Person will be expected to work well with all three principals and with teachers taking field trips, and to respond to their requests. The bus driver transports students to and from school and drives students, staff, and community members on field and other trips when they are approved by the Board and/or Superintendent. Most of the driving will be for field trips. Because of the lengths of some field trips, the employee’s work hours may be adjusted on those days. RESPONSIBILITIES: • Meets all legal requirements for the operation of the bus • Maintains the bus on a regular schedule • Obeys all traffic laws • Maintains student discipline • Keeps to assigned schedule • Discharges students only at assigned stops • Reports all accidents • Keeps the bus clean • Checks bus before each operation for mechanical defects. QUALIFICATIONS: Possession of a valid school bus driver's certificate and license as issued by the California Department of Motor Vehicles.
