Job Summary
Under the direction of the principal or assistant principal, and in coordination with the Academy, the Counselor position is responsible for academic, career and personal/social counseling and guidance services to students in grades TK-12. Specific duties and responsibilities will be assigned by the school site principal.
Requirements / Qualifications
Education and Experience: -Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in school counseling or closely related field required -Valid California credential in Pupil Personnel Services authorizing service in school counseling required -CLAD/ BCLAD/English Learner (EL) Certification OR the commitment to obtain certification within two (2) years of hire date required -Two years of school counseling experience highly desired
The physical abilities described below are those that must be met by an employee to successfully carry out the essential functions of the position. -Work in varying degrees of temperature (heated or air conditioned). -Position requires frequent use of standard office equipment such as computers/laptops, phones, photocopiers, fax machines and filing cabinets. -Position requires light to moderate work with twenty-five (25) pounds maximum weight to lift and carry. -Position requires to sit, stand and/or walk for extended periods of time. -Position requires reaching, bending, stooping and handling objects with hands and/or fingers, talking and/or hearing and seeing. -Position requires abilities to see and read printed matter with or without vision aides. -Position requires ability to hear and understand speech at normal room levels, and to hear and understand speech on the telephone.
