Job Summary
Assist the teacher in reinforcing instruction to individual or small groups of moderately to severely handicapped special education students, ages birth to 22. Assist in the preparation of instructional materials and implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). Provide routine clerical support.
Requirements / Qualifications
Required: -High school diploma or equivalent. -An AA degree (or equivalent) or passage of proficiency examination in compliance with Education Code and No Child Left Behind Act. -Experience working with individuals with special education needs in an organized setting. -Sign language skills.* -Valid California driver’s license. -First Aid and CPR certification (provided by SLOCOE) must be obtained within 130 days of employment. *There is a signing skills assessment that candidates must pass in order to qualify for this position.
All applicants must meet paraprofessional proficiency requirements (48 semester units, AA degree or higher, passage of CBEST test, or proof of NCLB/ESSA compliance) If needed, applicants may take the ESSA Paraprofessional Proficiency exam at the SLOCOE Office. The exam is administered by appointment at the SLOCOE Main Office (across from Cuesta College on Highway One). Please call (805) 782-7264 to schedule an appointment. REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:

This recruitment serves to fill 1 current vacancy at Lillian Larsen Elementary in San Miguel. The position will be working 1:1 with a student and will require riding the bus with the student from San Luis Obispo to San Miguel on a daily basis. The work day is 8.5 hours long and the last 30 minutes of each day will be paid overtime pay (time and a half rate).
