Riverbank Unified School District is seeking a dependable and safety-minded Bus Driver Substitutes to transport students with care and professionalism. This role includes driving assigned routes to and from school, as well as supporting field trips, athletic events, and special activities . The Bus Driver helps maintain a clean, safe vehicle; performs routine bus inspections; and upholds district standards for student conduct and community interaction. With a steady hand and a calm presence, this position plays a vital part in ensuring students travel securely each day, reflecting the district’s longstanding commitment to reliability and service.

BUS DRIVER
JOB SUMMARY
Bus Driver I, under supervision of the Supervisor of Maintenance/Operations/Transportation and Site Principal or designee, drive a school bus or transportation vehicle safely over an assigned route. Transport students, including: to and from school; field trips; athletic activities; and other special trips; to maintain buses in a clean and safe condition.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge and Application of:
District policies and procedures as they apply; Safe Driving Practices; Provisions of the California Motor Vehicle Code and Education Code applicable to the operation of vehicles in transporting school children.
Ability to:

?Lift, carry, push, pull, bend, twist, stoop, kneel, run and crawl

?Operate a school bus and other transportation vehicle in a safe and proper manner
?Maintain and verify accuracy and completeness of work requests

?Plan and organize vs. utilize time management and organizational skills
?Keep and maintain records
?Read, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, policies and procedures
?Work at a desk, conference table or in meetings of various configurations
?Stand, sit and walk for extended periods of time
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THIS POSITION
May include, but are not limited to:
1.Perform a wide variety of specialized driving tasks; interpret and apply rules and regulations as appropriate
2.Boards and discharges student passengers, escorting children across streets and stopping traffic as necessary
3.Transports students, staff, and chaperones on field trips, athletic activities and other special trips
4.Maintains bus cleanliness on a daily basis
5.Performs bus maintenance checks and reports maintenance needs
6.Fuels bus
7.May transport other materials in district vehicles
8.Maintains good order among students on the buses following district policies regarding the disciplining of children and contact with parents and other citizens; conducts bus evacuation drills
9.During times when buses are not in use, positions in this class may be assigned to general maintenance and clean-up activities in the transportation department
10.Performs related duties as assigned
Education/Experience:
High School Diploma or GED required; One (1) year of general driving experience or six (6) months experience as a bus driver.
Conditions of Employment:
First Aid Certificate required and California Drivers License, Class A or B
