PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Shall help procure, prepare and organize resource materials.
2. Shall work with students referred to the Learning Center.
3. Shall keep all necessary records related to the Learning Center.
4. Shall assist in student and teacher book check out and inventory.
5. Shall provide assistance to individual students and groups of students under direction of Learning Center teacher.
6. Shall assist in testing students.
7. Shall assist in preparing instructional materials.
8. Shall assist the Learning Center teacher in all areas related to the district’s testing program.
9. Shall seek to improve his/her job assignment related skills.
10. Shall assist in maintaining a neat and orderly room environment.
11. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of:
• School policies, methods and practices
• Materials related to the classroom
• Operation of related equipment
• Basic English usage and math skills

Ability to:
• Follow written and oral directions.
• Communicate effectively.
• Consistently relate to youngsters in a positive manner.
• Be neat, clean and have a pleasant appearance.
• Operate necessary program equipment.
• Relate with students in a manner which will enhance student learning.
• Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with teacher(s), supervisor, other adults and students of various backgrounds.
• Communicate effectively.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical requirements indicated below are examples of the physical aspects that this position classification must perform in carrying out essential job functions.
• Persons performing service in this position classification will exert 10 to 20 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
• This type of work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve running, walking or standing for brief periods.
• Perceiving the nature of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, providing oral information, the manual dexterity to operate related equipment and handle and work with various materials and objects are important aspects of this job.
• Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable a person with a disability to perform the essential functions of the job.

EDUCATION:
• 48 college units or AA degree

EXPERIENCE:
• Experience working with children with learning disabilities.
• Spanish / bilingual desired

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
• Fingerprint clearance required
• TB clearance required
