Requirements / Qualifications

Under general supervision, provides instruction to individual or small groups of students with behavioral challenges in accordance with the prescribed course of instruction; observes, monitors and records student behavior and performance; assists teachers in maintaining student academic and attendance records; and performs related duties as assigned. EDUCATION: The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) requires schools to be in compliance when hiring paraprofessionals for classroom instruction. The following requirements are: • Graduation from High School or evidence of equivalent educational proficiency, and • Completion of two years of higher education (48 semester units) or • Associate’s degree (or higher) or •Pass a local assessment of knowledge and skills in assisting instruction. Applications must be submitted with a copy of High School Diploma or G.E.D. and college transcripts to be considered for this position.

TRANSCRIPT VERIFICATION: Transcripts and degrees earned outside of the United States must be accompanied by a full evaluation report from a regionally accredited foreign credential evaluation agency.
