3.25 hours per day Monday - Friday Working hours vary (TBD by site) DEFINITION: Assist the teacher in providing care, supervision, and learning activities for the children as assigned; assists with nutrition activities; participates in parent activities; attends staff development sessions; assists with health activities; under the supervision of the teacher, assists with record keeping. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: Assist in the supervision of children as assigned; assist the teacher in providing an educational program; confers with the teacher in regard to special individualized activities; keeps physical facilities clean and in order as necessary; helps with training of volunteer aides; attends staff development sessions; assists with parent workshops and parent involvement activities; helps recruit children for the program; assists with record keeping; attends Parent Advisory Committee meetings; makes home phone calls when teacher requests assistance; helps plan and accompanies children on walking and longer field trips; may operate computer terminal. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge of: The needs and behavior of the pre-school child. Abilities to: Work effectively with pre-school children; speak Spanish is desirable; work cooperatively with parents; keep accurate records; follow written and oral instructions. Experience: Some experience caring for groups of children is desirable; attendance, participation, or additional education in pre-school parent education programs is desirable.
