Golden Valley Charter Schools is seeking a passionate, nurturing, and dedicated First Grade Teacher to join our collaborative, mission-driven team for the 2026–2027 school year. As a Waldorf-inspired public charter school, we believe first grade is a magical year of discovery, where students develop confidence as readers, writers, mathematicians, artists, and compassionate members of their classroom community. We are looking for an educator who values hands-on learning, meaningful relationships, creativity, and developmentally appropriate instruction while inspiring a lifelong love of learning. If you are an educator who believes children learn best through imagination, movement, storytelling, artistic expression, and strong connections with families, we'd love to hear from you. Primary Responsibilities -Foster a warm, structured, and joyful classroom environment where every child feels safe, supported, and inspired to learn. -Deliver a Waldorf-inspired, developmentally appropriate first grade curriculum that nurtures academic, social, emotional, and creative growth. -Create engaging, hands-on learning experiences through storytelling, movement, art, music, nature, and experiential learning. -Build foundational literacy and mathematics skills while cultivating curiosity, confidence, and a love of learning. -Differentiate instruction to support the diverse needs of learners, including students with IEPs and 504 Plans. -Monitor student progress through ongoing assessment and use data to inform instruction and interventions. -Collaborate closely with instructional assistants, support staff, and colleagues to promote student success. -Develop meaningful partnerships with families through regular communication, conferences, and community events. -Participate in school festivals, professional development, faculty collaboration, and the vibrant life of our school community.
Requirements / Qualifications
Valid California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential required. Our ideal candidate has a creative spirit, a strong sense of self and a willingness to work in collaboration with our community and servant-leader Principals to help our schools grow and thrive. As a Public Waldorf School we do not require a Waldorf Teaching Certificate but do want our candidates to have knowledge of and a respect for the Pedagogy. We do ask that our teachers work towards obtaining the Waldorf Teaching Certificate and our Educational Foundation helps cover the cost for Teachers in the training program.
