Under the direction of Director III: Special Education, the Coordinator I: Special Education is primarily responsible for coordinating all activities for the department. The position is a full-time certificated staff member who will manage logistics and operations related to the department. The Special Education Coordinator I makes certain plans are administered in accordance with federal and state regulations and that planned provisions are followed under the direction of his/her supervisor. This role provides administrative support to the special education functions as needed, including record keeping, Individual Education Plan (IEP) file maintenance, system development, processing, and special education information system entry.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Education Required: Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree in a related field required; Doctorate desirable. Experience Required: Successful teaching and administrative experience required; District and/or site special education experience required. Licenses, Certifications, Bonding and/or Testing Required: Valid Administrative Services Credential (required); Valid CA Driver’s License and evidence of insurability; Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance; negative pre-employment drug screen test/negative TB results and a negative AB2534 response from each LEA previously employed (Upon hire).
