Job Summary

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Principal, assist a certificated teacher in reinforcing instruction to individual or small groups of physically, multi severely disabled, and behaviorally challenged students in a special education classroom or other learning environment; assist in the preparation of instructional materials and implementation of lesson plans; assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEP) for assigned students; perform routine clerical and supportive tasks for instructional personnel.

Requirements / Qualifications

In addition to the documents below, information for three Professional References must be provided. Professional References MUST be people who worked as your Supervisor, Manager, or HR Personnel. Professional References CANNOT be friends, family, family friends, or coworkers. Some experience working with children in an organized setting also required.

Substitute Intervention Assistants cover in the classroom for regular employees who are out for various reasons. In addition to standard Intervention Assistant job duties, Job duties for Special Education IA substitute positions may include the following: - Assist students with personal hygiene and grooming as required; assist students with eating activities; assist children with toileting, diapering and changing those who have experienced toileting accidents; assist students with performing and developing self-help and social skills. - Utilize a variety of assistive devices and mobility related equipment including toileting chairs, changing tables, visual aids, wheelchairs and other related augmentative equipment; assist students with operating assistive technology for student related service equipment; facilitate effective communication for students using assistive language technology. Substitutes are expected to carry out all of these duties required of them. Please review them & make sure you will be comfortable completing these tasks prior to applying for this position.
