Job Summary
Under the direction of an Assistant Principal, perform moderately complex secretarial and administrative support duties at a middle school site, including but not limited to secretarial, student services, and business responsibilities; prepare statistical reports, compose correspondence independently, answer calls from parents, staff and the public; calendar events and arrange meetings.
Requirements / Qualifications
Knowledge of: - Operation of office machines including computer equipment and specified software. - Modern office practices, procedures, and equipment. - Alpha and numeric filing systems. - Basic record-keeping techniques. - Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary. - Telephone techniques and etiquette. Ability to: - Utilize alpha and numeric filing systems. - Maintain records and files. - Assemble, organize and prepare data for records and reports. - Answer telephones and greet the public courteously. - Perform clerical duties such as filing, typing, duplicating and maintaining routine records. - Operate office machines including a computer and applicable software. - Type at a rate of speed of 40 WPM. - Compose correspondence and written materials. - Perform specialized clerical duties in support of school activities. - Understand and resolve issues, complaints, or problems.
Education and Experience: - Any combination equivalent to: a High School diploma or equivalent supplemented by college level coursework in general office practices, business or related field and two (2) years of progressively responsible secretarial and clerical experience, preferably in a school setting. Additional higher education may substitute for some experience.
