In this role, you will work hand-in-hand with our science faculty to create an engaging, smooth-running, and supportive learning environment. This position requires on campus support on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:30 AM to 4 PM at our Santa Barbara location. Additional prep time of 1-4 hours per week (primarily on Mondays) is required. Additional hours may be available upon request and the needs of the school. Are you passionate about science, education, and making a positive impact on students? We are looking for an enthusiastic, organized, and collaborative Science Teacher Aide to join our team! In this role, you will work hand-in-hand with our science faculty to create an engaging, smooth-running, and supportive learning environment.


Schedule & Commitment


  1. Weekly Prep: Approximately 1–4 hours per week beyond standard ACE obligations (typically on Mondays to prepare materials for the upcoming week).
  2. ACE Days: Tuesdays and Thursdays in Santa Barbara, Direct classroom support, setup, and teardown. Schedule is approximately from 7:30 AM to 4 PM.


Key Responsibilities


Weekly Preparation & Collaboration

  1. Material Magic: Gather, prepare, and organize lab supplies and classroom materials; make necessary copies.
  2. Lesson Syncing: Participate and collaborate directly with the science teacher to review plans and align on weekly goals.
  3. Stay Ahead: Review lesson slides prior to ACE days so you know exactly how to support both the teacher and the students.
  4. Tech & Strategy Savvy: Maintain familiarity with Canvas, as well as the specific digital and paper strategies utilized in our science classroom.

On ACE Days (In the Classroom)

  1. Launch & Land: Set up classroom technology and lab supplies before lessons begin; take down and properly store supplies afterward.
  2. Inventory Eye: Keep track of supplies during cleanup and identify what needs to be restocked before the next lesson.
  3. Classroom Management Partner: Support the teacher and center staff with classroom management by knowing the teacher’s plan inside and out.
  4. Student Advocacy: Familiarize yourself with and support students’ IEP, 504, and behavior plans to ensure an inclusive environment.
  5. Debrief: Assist the teacher with end-of-day wrap-up and review to help prep for the next lesson.

Student Engagement & Culture Building

  1. Bring the Energy: Actively engage with students, encouraging them and bringing appropriate enthusiasm to lessons and hands-on labs.
  2. Tech & Notebook Support: Help students create and maintain their interactive science notebooks, and assist them with taking and uploading pictures of their work to Canvas.
  3. Virtual Integration: Assist virtual teachers by facilitating meaningful, real-time interactions with in-person students.

Qualifications & Skills

  1. Strong Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are a must for effectively collaborating with center staff, parents, and science teachers.
  2. Adaptability: Comfortable navigating educational technology (like Canvas) and managing digital/paper hybrid workflows.
  3. Empathy & Inclusion: A heart for supporting students with diverse learning needs (IEPs, 504s).
  4. Team Player: A reliable, collaborative mindset dedicated to building a positive culture for all students and staff.
