Job Summary

Golden Valley Charter Schools is seeking a compassionate, patient, and student-centered Special Education Instructional Assistant – Behavioral Student Support to join our Special Education team. This position provides individualized instructional and behavioral support to a student with an Individualized Education Program (IEP) throughout the school day. Working under the direction of the Education Specialist and school administration, the Instructional Assistant helps implement academic, behavioral, and social-emotional supports designed to promote student success, independence, and meaningful participation in the classroom and school community. Our Instructional Assistants are valued members of the educational team who build trusting relationships with students while collaborating closely with teachers, specialists, and families. The ideal candidate demonstrates flexibility, empathy, professionalism, and the ability to remain calm and supportive in a variety of educational settings. Experience supporting students with behavioral, social-emotional, communication, or developmental needs is highly desirable. Primary Responsibilities: -Provide individualized (1:1) instructional and behavioral support throughout the school day. -Implement classroom, behavioral, and academic strategies under the direction of the Education Specialist. -Foster student independence while providing appropriate levels of support. -Assist with implementing IEP accommodations, modifications, and behavior support plans. -Collect and maintain accurate data regarding student progress and behavioral goals. -Support successful participation during classroom instruction, transitions, recess, lunch, specials, and other school activities. -Utilize positive behavior support strategies, de-escalation techniques, and proactive interventions to promote student success. -Collaborate with teachers, specialists, administrators, and families as appropriate. -Maintain confidentiality

Requirements / Qualifications

Applicants should possess experience working with children who benefit from individualized academic and behavioral support. Successful candidates demonstrate patience, consistency, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Experience in special education, behavior support, instructional assistance, Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), mental health, youth development, childcare, or related human services fields is highly desirable.
