The Poway Unified School District is seeking a highly motivated and collaborative Career Education Specialist (CES) to support Career Technical Education (CTE) students, teachers, and programs from grades K-Adult. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY - CAREER EDUCATION SPECIALIST: ETCN PARTNERSHIP COORDINATOR ROLE: - Travel regularly, or as needed, to six consortium sites to engage with principals, directors, career advisors, transition specialists, teachers, and other staff. - Strengthen employer and community partnerships across North County through ongoing engagement with key workforce partners including San Diego Workforce Partnership, North County Works, North County Career Center, chambers of commerce, and nonprofit organizations. - Expand and deepen healthcare employer relationships, supporting Medical Assistant, Medical Billing and Coding, CNA, Pharmacy Tech, and related pathways through new and continuing externship discussions and placements. - Advance externship and MOU development efforts, including supporting new agreements and coordinating cross-consortium discussions on externship tracking systems across member adult schools.
Requirements / Qualifications
- Lead and support consortium-wide employer engagement events, including the Education & Career Showcase and Business & Community Forum planning and execution, with strong participation from employers, workforce partners, and job seekers. - Facilitate labor market-informed decision making by integrating EDD and Lightcast data into consortium discussions, highlighting high-demand occupations, workforce gaps, and employer needs in healthcare, behavioral health, manufacturing, and public service sectors. - Strengthen collaboration with workforce development systems, including SDWP Community of Practice meetings and Employer & Resource Panels, supporting alignment between adult education programs and regional workforce initiatives. - Expand career center and community organization engagement, including partnership development with North County Career Center, YMCA, Mariposa Clubhouse, United Resource Center, and other community-based organizations supporting underserved populations. - Support student career exposure and workforce readiness through sharing resources on job fairs, advisory meetings, and presentations at community and education events across North County. - Deliver employer-facing and student-facing presentations, including workplace communication, supporting career readiness and soft skills development across multiple sites within the consortium. - Contribute to advisory and sector-specific planning groups, including healthcare advisory committees and program-specific employer engagement efforts aligned to CTE program development and alignment with labor market needs. - Participate in regional workforce and economic development convenings (e.g., SDWP, business summits, economic roundtables), bringing back labor market insights to inform consortium planning and program alignment.

Must possess, or be able to attain, a valid California CTE Designated Subjects teaching credential (preferred) or possess a valid California Single Subject teaching credential in a related subject. Three (3) Letters of Recommendation signed within the last 12 months (at least one from a supervising administrator is recommended). 6.
