EXAMPLES OF DUTIES -Assists in identifying and evaluating individuals with special needs. -Instructs students with special needs. -Adjusts educational programs to assist the student in becoming as independent as possible. -Adapts classroom environment and prepares specialized materials to meet the needs of individual students. -Evaluates daily performances of each student and adjusts future instruction accordingly. Evaluates total program of each student through the use of tests/ observations. -Confers with parents at school, by phone, in writing and in making home visits. -As appropriate, develops individual transition plans, supports community-based instruction and supports students in integrated school environments. -Participates in IEP meetings to determine appropriate instructional program for individuals with special needs. -Prepares written reports to other professional persons and to parents. Maintains necessary up-to-date information relating to rosters, reports, etc. -Performs other duties as assigned within the scope of Teacher – Special Education.
